Hello,
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern Erica here. I’d love to share a quick introduction to a therapeutic approach I truly enjoy using in my work with clients: Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT.
At its core, DBT is built on the idea of dialectics—the understanding that two seemingly opposite things can both be true at the same time. For example, you can be doing your best and still need support or change. This balance of acceptance and growth is what makes DBT such a powerful and compassionate approach.
One of the reasons I enjoy DBT is because it offers practical, real-world tools and skills that can be applied in everyday life. It focuses on four main areas:
These skills work together to help individuals feel more in control, more connected in their relationships, and better equipped to handle life’s challenges.
If you’re curious about how DBT could support you or your family, I’d be happy to talk more and explore how these tools can be tailored to your needs.
Take care,
Erica
