DR. COLLEEN CROOMS

Licensed Psychologist

I specialize in the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders throughout the lifespan including Autism, Learning Disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Intellectual Disabilities. I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of developmental, educational, mood and behavioral disorders among child, adolescent, and adult populations. As part of my evaluation, I am able to offer direct observations and interviews in school, preschool, and daycare settings upon request. Furthermore, my background in School Psychology has allowed me to consult with local school districts and provide full psychoeducational assessments in addition to independent educational evaluations. A unique aspect of treatment offered is my availability to participate in your child’s IEP or 504 Accommodation Plan meetings and provide education consultations.

Individual therapy services are also offered in-person for emotional and behavioral regulation as well as life transition. I utilize evidence-based treatment such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in addition to mindfulness, behavioral rehearsal, and empathy training. Education and practice in developing Executive Functioning strategies is also offered at all levels of need. Parent training is available and strongly encouraged after an initial diagnosis to provide supportive and consistent strategies to improve parent-child relationships.

I am eager to have joined the Sarasota County community and look forward to assisting and collaborating in any way possible.
