Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Over 20 years ago, I started helping children and families dealing with emotional and behavioral issues. I also have many years of experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental challenges. I have a love for children, and in my work with them, I pull from experience with applied behavior analysis and often teach positive behavior, emotional and social skills.
Using a strength-based approach, we will discover your child’s gifts, personality, and interests and nurture these. In our time together, I utilize evidence-based therapy skills and techniques and incorporate mindfulness. I am also trained in Brainspotting, a brain-body based therapy especially useful for trauma including stuck images and memories. With focus and precision we can find eye positions “the brainspots” , where you are holding the trauma, anxiety, depression, or relational problems. Brainspotting allows the brain to process the problems, from the inside-out, within the parts of our brain that are involved in complex activities such as memory, emotion and pleasure.
I obtained my Masters in Counseling from Divine Mercy University in Virginia and am currently a Registered Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I am under the supervision of Dr. Angela Steranko as I obtain clinical hours towards full licensure. My professional experience includes working with special needs families, people facing medical challenges, developmental delays, depression, and anxiety. I also enjoy helping people navigate transitions such as a recent move, a new school, college stress, and family changes.
I personally understand the apprehensions and fears parents may have when entering therapy. In our time together, I want parents to feel empowered, encouraged, and supported and find the steps forward. I am here to support and teach you ways to strengthen your relationship, manage behaviors, and motivate your children.
I look forward to working with you.
